Celebs and Their E-Cigs: Who’s Vaping Now?

75f7e9a20b5daa6066126a523e081c26Electronic cigarettes and celebrities go hand in hand, or shall we say like an e-cig in hand? Vaping has enabled celebrities, in the age of smoking being uncool, to retain their hip status and still have their nicotine fix. Since electronic cigarettes hit the American market, celebrities were among the first to grab them. Known for being ahead of the trends, it was a good move on their part because not only did it bring them attention for hyping up a new product, it gave e-cigs instant credibility because trendsetters were on to them. Here’s a look at why e-cigarettes are so popular.

Fast forward to the present, and the number of stars who vape in the spotlight are countless. Now, with the e-cigarette movement hotter than ever, and more and more users happy to have made the switch to vapor smoking, celebrities have only contributed to their rise.

As of late, the celebs who have been proudly vaping in public, and getting photographed doing so have been many. We love that they are setting a great example for those who take inspiration in them by vaping proudly, and for choosing not to smoke tobacco cigarettes. Considering the bad reputation cigarettes have acquired, and the fact that no one really looks cool smoking traditional smokes anymore, it’s no wonder the Hollywood set has switched to vapor.

Some of the stars who are flaunting their e-cigarettes include Katherine Heigl, Kate Moss, Leonardo DiCaprio, Simon Cowell, Alexa Chung, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Katy Perry, John Cusack, Jack Nicholson, Sean Penn, Lindsay Lohan, Robert Pattinson, Kevin Connolly, Dennis Quaid, Britney Spears, Christina Milian, Bruno Mars, Charlie Sheen, and Johnny Depp throughout his role in the film “The Tourist.”

Quite an A-list full of star power, making great smoking choices right? With all of these celebs getting headlines for their e-smoking, and proudly showing off their alternative cigarettes on camera, it only goes to show how big this movement is, and how Hollywood is leading the pack!

Why Are Celebrities Choosing E-Cigs?

Celebrities love e-cigarettes. Can’t blame them, we do too! They are like an instant cool-factor, a little token that proudly proclaims: “I’m ahead of the trends, conscious about my health and the environment, and cooler than thou!” The list of celebs who’ve been spotted casually vaping over the past several years is long, and they have boldly entered the mainstream with authority.

So why have celebrities taken to e-cigs with so much fervor? Well, it’s because they are wonderful! They offer the chance to have the whole sensation, the wonderfully relaxing, exhilarating rush that nicotine delivers with every puff. Nicotine feels good, but when it comes with cigarettes, you have to deal with all the risks and health concerns.

Celebs are our biggest trend setters. They are models for everyday living, fashion icons, and whatever they are photographed doing, the public takes notice. Lots of stars are using e-smokes, for the health benefits that they get from not smoking cigarettes, to the attention they get for being on point with the trends. Plenty of famous folk have been famous for smoking cigarettes regardless of how bad they are, and electronic cigarettes are a tried and true alternative to them. And the fact that they add a little extra panache, a little modern edginess, makes them even better!

Jeremy Piven, Katherine Heigl, JWOW, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Pattinson, Mel Gibson, Trace Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan, are just a few. One of the most blatant moments that solidified the arrival of e-cigs in popular culture was in 2010, when Katherine Heigl brought hers to an appearance on the Dave Letterman Show. She then happily demonstrated, told national audiences all about them, and even got Dave himself to give them a go. Go Katherine! She has since become the unofficial celebrity spokesperson for e-cigarettes, and has been photographed dozens of times out and about vaping.

Cigarettes aren’t cool anymore, while quitting smoking is very cool. And for people who want the best of both worlds, being able to vape and enjoy the sensation, and not be bothered by the actual tobacco smoke using electronic cigarettes is the way to go! How electronic cigarettes work is simple and so convenient. The celebrities are not mistaken on this one!

The Word is Out: E-Cigarettes Are the Smarter Choice

So much debate is out these days, on whether e-cigarettes are better than tobacco cigarettes, whether or not they should be used, which brands make the purest products, whether they are just a passing trend…

Well, every year since they hit the retail market in 2008 the sales have only increased, the technology has only gotten more and more advanced, and the prices have dropped significantly to where it is less expensive to smoke electronically than it is to use tobacco cigarettes! Even when purchasing an electronic cigarette starter kit, it costs far less. However, that is not the only plus to using them. They offer smokers a world of convenience, most importantly offering a smoke-free way to still get all the pleasure from nicotine. In the 2010 film, The Tourist, Johnny Depp’s character puffed on an e-cig, famously saying “It’s not a real cigarette – it’s electronic.” That brief clip immortalized the spreading popularity of electronic cigarettes, solidifying them especially with Hollywood.

Why are vapor cigarettes changing the way people smoke? Because they offer convenience, freedom, and benefits to the health in ways that cigarettes cannot. In asking users directly about their experiences, most have amazing stories to tell of, both how their lives have gotten better, as well as how they have been able to entirely switch from cigarettes. While e-cigarettes are not cessation devices, they most certainly are a phenomenal alternative to smoke and tobacco. Smoker’s coughs, sore throats, breathing capacity have all been improved, as reported by users. Tobacco smoke carries the harmful tar, and it accumulates on anything it gets constant exposure to. As it is infamous for doing, it builds up in the lungs. With E-cigs, this is nonexistent as there is no smoke, no tar, and the vapor they release contains nothing that will start to collect.

Perhaps one of the more ridiculous arguments is that electronic smokes, because they come in a variety of flavors, will entice children and youngsters to start using them. While this has always been the case with the tobacco industry, the e-cigarette industry does nothing to market to children, and all reputable companies in the market take this very seriously. The target market is also over the age of 40, and very much beyond the legal minimum age limit!

In terms of sales, smokeless cigarette products are expected to reach around 3.5 million users this year, even amidst claims that vapor may be harmful in the same way smoke is, and that without proper regulation you don’t really know what you are getting. So despite arguments and warnings, the success rate only climbs higher the more time passes. Electronic cigarettes are here to stay!
